The Study of Recreation

After Reading an article called "A continuum of leisure studies and professional specialties: what if no connections exist?" I had some really solidified thoughts about my program.
Currently at the University of Waterloo, the Health Studies Department introduced Health Promotion - but not as part of its Health Department - it is a distinct identity, which lead me to wonder why all of the different Recreation and Leisure studies options are lumped as one identity when in reality I (Therapeutic Recreation student) hardly ever have classes with Recreation & Business or Tourism and Parks students - so why are our school identities so together while health promotion and health studies are trying so hard to be apart? Even be creating their own student societies and seats on boards - I think many recreation and leisure studies students would agree that our areas of discipline are also very separated and distinct.
The article states that the different domains are on two diverging ends of a continuum, but in reality it should be addressed more like a concept map with recreation/leisure ideals at the center because for the most part that's the only thing we all share. I do agree however that there should be more intersections and interdependancies among the disciplines because we need each other to exist. Therapeutic Recreation relies on recreation business to offer programs to send clients to etc.  In school we are taught to function separately, but maybe the field would be much stronger if we were taught to use each others skills and resources more effectively. Maybe then we would have an easier time identifying ourselves as all being part of one category instead of many disconnected parts.

So when I visualize my concept map it looks something like this:
Yet when I tried to draw it with images it looked like this:

If I look at these pictures that we study as completely different/separate subjects - I get slightly confused because in reality they look very similar.
